There are very many different practices of yoga. Most use asana’s, or poses.
In this class I practice the asana’s with a view to finding psycho physical unity, integrating mind and body so that one does not have dominion over the other. This is a great place to practice your Alexander skill set. The focus is to build stable mobility and mobile stability. Technique is important, but when the foundation of support is missing, how you choose to move from and with the support becomes precarious and requires more effort and strain to manifest and then maintain. We therefore move at a slow pace to explore the principles of psycho-physical equilibrium. The pace of the class allows participants the time to discover how their thinking and movement are connected. It also provides space to recognize the movement between asana’s. Classes are best attended before other activities or at the beginning of the day to avoid Injury. It is not similar to or like restorative yoga, as you are actively engaging in the asana’s.
